Itinerary

The capitol of Iceland.

Reykjavík • The Arrival – We will meet on Friday at 6 p.m. in the hotel lobby and start our adventure with a presentation of Iceland and what to expect from this adventure. Afterwards, we will go to one of the best restaurants in Reykjavík to finish our first evening together.

Day 1Starting from Reykjavik to the Golden Circle – We will start with some training for ice, water crossings, and gravel.  Then we will drive directly to Langjökull – the second largest glacier in Iceland and one of the largest in the world. Gulfoss • Þingvellir • Strokkur • Langjökull

Day 2The Off-Road Adventure Begins – After a short journey and quick refueling, we will start early in the morning on the F261 into the highlands. Nature at its best. Deep rivers, old volcanos, and wild Icelandic horses. In the afternoon, we will arrive at our guesthouse directly by the “Mýrdalsjökull” – a great glacier with an active volcano underneath.

Day 3Road to Mordor – Starting with Blautulón – crossing a sea in the highlands – we will continue with the “Road to Mordor” (J.R.R. Tolkien fictional world of middle-earth). A day including steep mountains, black rivers, deep erosions and much more.

Day 4Landmannalaugar & Black Sands – Today we do not start early in the morning. Instead, we take our time for Landmannalaugar – one of the nicest places in Iceland. Finishing off the day, there will be a chance for a special trip – going to a secret place with black dunes and a hike to a unique ice cave.

Day 5Moving South to Laki – We move further south – Making our way through the Laki crevasses and getting close to Vatnajökull. An exciting day filled with indescribable scenery and the possibility of climbing the Laki – a volcanic fissure.

Ice cave in Iceland.

Day 6A Day on the Ice – Today, we will visit the glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach. We‘ll go directly into the ice with RIP boats and get to witness the birth of icebergs. Afterwards, we will head back to Vik – a small town in the south with shopping facilities, the famous Black Beach, and on the way we will experience the “best of” the Icelandic waterfalls.

Day 7Back to Reykjavík – We head back to Reykjavik – but not without embarking on one of the best adventures in Iceland – navigating the Valley of Thor. We’ll get right to the eruption site of Eyjafjalla (the volcano that made air travel between Europe and the US in 2010 impossible) and get as far as Iceland’s most famous and infamous river – the Krossa. In the evening, we will stop at a Viking restaurant to have the perfect ending of this extraordinary adventure trip. This last night will be spent in Reykjavík.
